On Friday 25th February, we were pleased to welcome Michael Hollaway, Tom August and Michael Tso from UKCEH, to present their webinar entitled ‘DataLabs – Tales from the frontline of data science’. Their talk brought to a conclusion our ‘Data management and analytical tools for environmental science’ webinar series.
Mike is a Senior Data Scientist at UKCEH and focuses on leading the development and application of novel data science methods to different environmental science challenges. This work utilises virtual labs to bring data scientists, environmental scientists and computer scientists together in one platform to seamlessly collaborate and share data and analytical methods. Tom has a background in field and lab ecology but has slowly transitioned into a data science role at UKCEH. Tom works at the interface of data science methods, biodiversity research and citizen science. His work covers applications of web technologies, high performance computing, computer vision, autonomous sensing systems and mobile applications. Michael is an environmental data scientist at UKCEH focusing on using virtual labs to foster collaboration between environmental, computational, and data scientists to address key environmental science challenges.
