We are pleased to be able to announce the winning teams for the final two events in the NERC COVID-19 Digital Sprint Hackathons – Ecosystem Services and Visualising Risk. We had some really fantastic entries to choose amongst and the judging panels had a hard job. But after much deliberation, the winners to date are announced as:
For the first Hackathon, ‘Ecosystem Services’, the judging panel awarded the following teams the top three places.
- First place: Team 2FRESH2FURIOUS
- Second place: Team MELLT
- Third place: Team 901ers
For the second Hackathon, ‘Visualising Risk’, the judging panel awarded the following teams the top two places.
- First place: Team Visigoths
- Second place: Team Parks in the Pandemic
Many thanks to all the teams who have taken part in the events! The results of all the excellent entries made are put online as an inspiration to further Digital Environment outputs. To see all the materials entered, please visit our COVID-19 Digital Sprint Github.
Reflecting back on the hackathons, it has been a great opportunity to run these events, highlighting the strong contribution data science approaches can play in advancing environmental issues. The outcomes of the hackathon events are on our site as a future reference, and we will also leave up our links to the various COVID-19 data sources as a future reference. It is hoped that NERC will be able to run similar events in future, so watch this space!
