#CDE22 – Information for Delegates (in person)

Travel

The venue is just a short walk from University railway station. This station has frequent links to Birmingham New Street and the wider rail network. Visitor parking on campus is extremely limited so car drivers are encouraged to consider travelling by train using the Longbridge station park and ride car park, B31 2TW, (fare £6.30 day return, car park £3 per day, journey time 13 minutes, frequency 10 mins). Otherwise visitor parking is available only at the North East Car Park Multi Storey – more details below.

Parking

Visitor parking is available only at the North East Car Park Multi Storey Floors 1-5 (access via Pritchatts Road), for Sat Nav use Postcode B15 2SA.
The Ground Floor bays are reserved exclusively for Edgbaston Park Hotel Guests displaying a guest permit only.
Please note that this car park does not have a lift.

Parking at the University of Birmingham is free of charge after 6.00pm Mon – Fri and is free all day at weekends.

Catering

Refreshments will be available in the mornings and afternoons as listed in the schedule. Buffet lunch will also be provided. There is no charge for these provisions. Special dietary needs and allergies must be declared on registration. There are also coffee shops and catering a short walk away from the venue.

Hackathon participants are likely to work late into the evening on Sunday and Monday. Takeaway pizzas or similar will be ordered for those who require it for which there will be no charge. This will be arranged by the Hackathon host on an ad-hoc basis.

COVID19

Please do not attend the conference is you are suffering with or have recently tested positive for COVID-19 or any respiratory illness symptoms. Hand sanitiser will be available, please use this regularly when on site. The wearing of face masks is optional but encouraged, especially if you are unable to distance from other people. We have selected rooms that are large compared to the audience so that delegates can spread out, and windows will be opened as much as possible. Please register for and participate remotely if you are unable to attend due to illness.

WiFi

Free guest WiFi is available for all on site – registration instructions will be provided on request at registration. Connection via Eduroam is also available.

Q&A (Slido)

We will be using Slido to manage audience Q&A. We would encourage delegates to install the Slido app on their smartphone or tablet. Participation through a web-browser is also available. The code for the conference is #CDE22 or use the QR code displayed here or this link. There is a “room” set up for each oral session, masterclass, keynotes, hackathon and one for general Q&A. Please select the correct room for your question!

Prizes

£100 Amazon gift cards will be awarded to the best oral presentation and the best poster. Prizes up to £3,000 will be awarded for the hackathon winners,

The Edgbaston Park Hotel is on campus, and only a short walk away. If this is full or does not match your budget, there are a wide range of accommodation options in the city centre or on the Hagley Road.
